Ashtanga with Grace

Ashtanga is an athletic, dynamic style of yoga that unites breath with movement. It is a sequencing of postures that uses the breath, bandhas (internal core locks), and drishti (eye focus) to lead the practitioner through a meditative flow. This method of yoga helps you build internal heat during your practice which purifies your system and helps you move deeper and safer into your yoga practice. The flowing sequence of Ashtanga will create strength, flexibility, endurance and balance in our bodies.

Ashtanga is a practice of yoga that integrates the mind, body, and breath connection into a physical experience, as well as, bringing life & vitality to the entire being. Ashtanga has a particular sequencing of warm-ups called “Surya Namaskara A & B” (Sun Salutations A & B), a standing sequence of asanas (postures), a seated sequence, and also a finishing sequence.

I teach the primary series of Ashtanga. And the Rocket which I learned from Larry Schutz of It’s Yoga, San Francisco. Traditional Ashtanga was introduced to American practitioners by Sri K.Pattabhi Jois (1916 – 2009). His famous saying, “Practice, and all is coming.” .
